WordPress care for small businesses
Your website matters to your business. Managing WordPress shouldn't be part of your job.
Updates, plugin conflicts, security alerts, backups, and mysterious errors all compete with running your business. Ignoring them isn't a strategy.
I keep an eye on the important things, handle routine maintenance, and investigate problems when something doesn't look right.
I make sure a current backup is available before routine updates and can roll the site back when an update causes a problem. You're not left figuring it out alone.
You're dealing with an experienced web developer, not a dashboard full of automated alerts. Clear communication, practical advice, and a person who knows WordPress.
Your backups belong to you. Request your full site archive at any time and receive a verified download link.
Automated alerts are only useful if a human actually responds. I personally review what the monitors find and follow up when something needs attention.
The pricing stays simple: $99/month for essential care, or $199/month when your website needs more attention. Both plans are month-to-month, with no long-term contract or commitment.
For a business that wants its WordPress site maintained, monitored, and backed up without having to think about it.
For businesses that want ongoing website changes in addition to routine care.
Submit your URL below. I will run a safe, public scan of your website and email you a free summary of my findings.
If we're a good fit, I start the $199 setup to understand your site's technical setup and establish a baseline before taking responsibility for its ongoing care.
Choose your monthly maintenance tier. Pick Starter ($99/mo) for essential care, or Professional ($199/mo) if you also want hands-on support and monthly website edits.
The onboarding fee isn't a mysterious setup charge. It's the work required to understand the site before taking responsibility for maintaining it.
I manually review your site's themes, plugins, and server settings to find hidden conflicts and fragile code before they cause problems.
You get a clear, plain-English report detailing your site's health, applied fixes, and any recommendations for major repairs.
I set up your automated backups and 24/7 uptime monitoring so your site is protected before ongoing care begins.
You're paying for someone to take responsibility for the routine technical care of your WordPress website. That includes updates, backups, security monitoring, uptime checks, maintenance, troubleshooting, and, on Professional, one hour of website edits each month.
The point is simple: you have an experienced developer looking after it.
Starter ($99/month) provides essential maintenance: automated safe updates, daily encrypted cloud backups, proactive firewall protection, 24/7 uptime monitoring, and email support with a 24–48 hour response time. It also includes instant rollback protection if a routine update fails.
Professional ($199/month) adds more hands-on support. It includes everything in Starter plus regular scans for broken links and missing images. Any fixes you request will use your monthly edit hour. You also get real-time threat alerts, a monthly health report, priority 24-hour support, and 1 hour of website edits every month for text, images, links, menus, or other minor content changes. Unused edit time does not roll over to the next month.
Before taking responsibility for a website, I need to understand what I'm inheriting. The Website Onboarding & Health Check establishes a baseline, identifies existing risks, configures the care process, and gets customer-owned backups and monitoring in place.
If the site needs significant cleanup, malware removal, a migration, or major remediation, that work is quoted separately before it begins. The standard onboarding fee covers the baseline assessment and does not include major repair or remediation work.
For routine maintenance updates, I make sure a current backup is available before the work. If an update causes a problem, I can roll the site back to the last known working version and investigate the issue.
This protection is included in both plans. It doesn't mean every possible website outage can be prevented, but it does mean you're not expected to troubleshoot an update-related failure on your own.
Included: WordPress core/plugin/theme updates, backups (which you can request from me at any time), security monitoring, firewall configuration, malware scanning/alerts, uptime monitoring, ongoing website health monitoring, and troubleshooting related to routine maintenance. Professional also includes one hour of content edits per month and a faster, priority support response time.
Outside the monthly plans: custom development, redesigns, major feature work, migrations, major remediation, malware cleanup, and non-WordPress projects. These can be quoted separately. Hourly consulting/development work is available at $125/hour with your approval.
I'm John Cahill. I've been building and maintaining websites around Boston for more than 25 years. Most of my work has been with small businesses, and I've seen how easy it is for the website to get pushed aside when there are a hundred other things that need attention.
That's really where Site Stewards came from. I take care of the WordPress updates, backups, monitoring, and whatever little problems happen to come up. If something needs fixing, I'll fix it. If something needs your attention, I'll let you know and explain what's going on in plain English.
It's pretty straightforward: I look after the website and you get on with running your business.
Send me your website and I'll take a look at what's publicly visible: performance, security basics, and a few other health signals. No obligation, no sales pitch disguised as a report.
